HOT BONDING PROCESS

HOT BONDING PROCESS
I.     SURFACE PREPARATION
  • Substrate surface to be lined is inspected visually before shot blasted. Any defects like welding imperfection, under cut and uneven surface to be rectified to get uniform lining.
  • Blasting, all surface to be lined  shall be blasted in accordance with SSPC SP-10/Sa 2.1/2 to ensure that surface is clean and free from rusts and scales.
  • Finally, the blasted surface is cleaned with solvent to get rid of dust, dirt and foreign particles, if any.
II.      ADHESIVE APPLICATION
  • .The primer is applied to be blasted surface to assist metal to rubber bonding dry time for the primer is 1 hour (minimum) up to 96 hours (self life).
2.After primer is completely dried, bonding agent (Adhesive) is applied to the surface. Dry time for the adhesive is 1 hour (minimum) up to 48 hours (self life).
3.Finally, a layer of rubber based adhesive is applied on the surface to get an optimum bonding strength, Dry time for rubber adhesive is 1 hour (minimum) up to 24 hours (self life).

III.      APPLICATION OF RUBBER SHEET
  • 1.      Preparation of Rubber Sheet
Rubber sheet shall be spread on the cutting table. At the same time, visual
checking of the rubber sheet shell be conducted.
    2.    Cutting of Rubber Sheet
Cutting line will be marked with white pencil, rubber sheet edge shell be cut
scantly at the width about 2.5t using soldering iron of knife. Width and length of
rubber sheet shall be determined in accordance with shape of substrate.
    3.     Application of Rubber Adhesive
Bando rubber adhesive shall be applied to rubber sheet with brush.
    4.    Carriage of Rubber Sheet
After drying up to rubber adhesive, rubber sheet shall be wound up together
with cotton cloth to prevent adhesion between rubber sheet
    5.    Rubber Sheet Overlap
The length of overlap is about 15 – 30 mm for shell and flat area, and internal
support and flange area will be 10 – 30 mm. Rubber sheet shall be pressed to
substrate sufficiently with hand roller not to leave any air under the sheet.
Overlap joint shall not be crossed with each other particular care shall be taken
not to leave air at the respective corner and uneven portion.

    IV.  INTERMEDIATE INSPECTION
  • The following inspection shall be conducted after sheet application and before curing.

        - Visual Inspection

        - Pinhole Test (Spark Tester
